Composer Kim Ok Song

Kim Ok Song is a talented composer who was well known to the people for his composition of a song “Song of Women” (1947). The song was popular among the Korean women after the liberation of Korea from the Japanese imperialist colonial rule.
He was a war composer during the Fatherland Liberation War. In those days he created works to encourage the soldiers and people in the rear to fight for a victory. Among them were “To a Decisive Battle” (1951) and “My Song in the Trench” (1951).
In 1960 he created orchestral music and chorus “A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain.”
Later, he created a song “Song of Happiness” (1961) and other works of various genres.
Composer Kim Ok Song, a People’s Artiste, created a lot of masterpieces of his deep thoughts and ceaseless pursuit throughout his whole life. For this he remains long in the hearts of the people.
