People’s Outdoor Ice Rink Frequented by All People

The People’s Outdoor Ice Rink is on the Taedong River of Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
In the last ten years after its opening more than 1.3 million working people, youth and schoolchildren and foreigners had a good time there.
Chairman Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) made a round of the newly built indoor swimming pool at Kim Il Sung University on March 19, 2009 and gave instructions to build the People’s Outdoor Ice Rink for the people and youth and schoolchildren in the centre of Pyongyang.
General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the construction site of the ice rink three times in 2012 alone to give energetic guidance to the construction.
General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the People’s Outdoor Ice Rink before the inauguration. He was much pleased to see the children skating, saying that it is a good sight looking forward to the bright future of the sports of our country and the ice rink will produce many reserve skaters.
The laughter of the people still comes out from the ice rink.
