One day in January 1984 an official went to the residence of President Kim Il Sung.

At the residence he saw that all the things including a lamp shade, to say nothing of the household furniture were the common ones that could be normally seen in other houses.

So, the official asked the President to get good household furniture and fixtures, saying even the people live in excellent dwelling houses.

Then the President said that he does not want to have better things than those the people have, how he can use the good things at the palatial house, simple household furniture, fixtures, clothes, shoes and vessels made in our country are the best for him, he is satisfied with them and money should be used for giving the people’s livelihood what little help one can give.
