Mr. Ri Kuk Ro (1893-1978) is a linguist and social activist of Korea who devotedly worked for the defence and development of the national language.

After the liberation, in 1948 he had an honor of meeting President Kim Il Sung for the first time at the joint conference of representatives of political parties and social organizations of north and south Korea. He made up his mind to devote his whole life for the construction of national culture of new Korea.
Later, thanks to the great trust placed by the President he worked as a deputy to the Supreme People’s Assembly, the first minister without portfolio of the Republic and the chairman of the Korean Language Research Society. He wrote lots of valuable research papers and books for the Juche-based development of Korean language.
He was awarded the academic degree and title of doctor and academician. He devoted himself to the development of Korean language even at the advanced age of 80.
