President Kim Il Sung visited the command of the fleet of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on August 28, 1949. That day he told the officials that it seemed only yesterday that he appointed the site for the school for training the cadres of the national security surface force and today a lot of naval cadres grew up to organize the fleet of the DPRK. He fixed its course and taught a good method of navigation.

It was how the Navy of the Korean People’s Army took the first step under the wise guidance of the President. In less than one year after it the torpedo boats sank the enemy’s heavy cruiser “Boltimore” pretending as the “island of the sea” at the beginning of the Fatherland Liberation War. It was world-startling miracle the world history of naval battles has never known.

In the 1960s the U.S. imperialist armed spy ship “Pueblo” was captured while committing espionage acts in the territorial sea of the DPRK. It struck the world with admiration again.

The Navy of the KPA that grew up to be matchless revolutionary ranks under the care of the President and the Chairman.

It has grown stronger under the sagacious leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

In February 2012 he mounted a torpedo boat in a sharp sea wind of midwinter to give encouragement to the seamen in the training. At a dining hall of a naval unit he cared for the dietary life of the seamen. When he visited another naval unit, he said that the hands of a steersman of a warship got chapped and took a step for medical treatment.

At a sub-unit of the Navy he said, the seamen have “culture of seamen” and asked officials to provide them with guitar and accordion and other cultural equipment so that they might enjoy a cultural life on the deck at the end of the training.

The Navy of the KPA that grew and gained in strength under his great loving care, demonstrated the onset of a new era, a turning point in the strengthening of the Juche-based naval force with the launch of tactical nuclear attack submarine No. 841, the first of its kind, on September 6, 2023, with due ceremony.
