In May 2010 Chairman Kim Jong Il went to the construction site of the then Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station without relieving the fatigue from his foreign tour.

Noting that he came to see the young people who were engaging themselves in rough work with their youthful enthusiasm to the building of the power station far away from the capital city, he acquainted himself with the work and life of the youth shock brigade members.

An official told the Chairman that unusually it is a good weather with beautiful scenery today. Then, he said, our young people are the best in the world, it is not because the weather is fine and same with the scenery, but because there are young people who are devoting themselves with patriotic and loyal hearts at the rough place far away from the capital city in hearty response to the call of the Party and therefore, he is going to have a photo session together with them. After all, he had a significant photo session together with the youth shock brigade members.
