Paeksang Pavilion
Paeksang Pavilion is a pavilion built on general’s terrace of walled city of Anju in Anju City, South Phyongan Province of the DPRK. It is a general’s office north of Anju. It was well known as one of the 8 scenic spots in North and South Phyongan and Jagang provinces.
Paeksang Pavilion takes its name from the meaning that one can enjoy one hundred scenes from it.
The first name of Paeksang Pavilion dates back to the 10th-20th of the 14th century.
The pavilion was built for the first time at the time of Koryo, which was proved by Koryo porcelain unearthed in the remains. The pavilion was rebuilt in the year 1753 and it represented the building of the pavilions built in the period of the Feudal Joson Dynasty.
The pavilion has red and blue painting in good harmony with the building and its surrounding environment.
The beautiful red and blue painting associated with the building structure and building parts and elements adds to the decoration of the pavilion building.
Paeksang Pavilion played an important role as the terrace of the general commanding battles of the army men and people in the walled city of Anju against aggressors in the period of Koryo.
Paeksang Pavilion, a valuable national cultural heritage, is well preserved as the historic remain of national value.
