There is the Hwawon Flower Shop at the hospital town, Munsu area of Pyongyang.

The shop is the outcome of the great loving care of Chairman Kim Jong Il who saw to it that the flower shop be built in front of the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital, saying that visitors to the hospital would be happy to get flowers for the patients. Thereafter, more and more people are visiting the shop with increased number of hospitals built in Munsu area thanks to the benevolent love of the Workers’ Party of Korea and people’s strong enthusiasm to lead a life in cultural and optimistic way.

Among them are medical workers of Okryu Children’s Hospital who buy flowers at the shop for their patients on the day of discharge, husbands who prepare flowers for their wives in congratulation of the birth of their first baby and people who buy flowers for doctors and nurses in appreciation of their sincere medical service to fellow workers. Also there are people who get flowers on the occasion of their teachers’ birthdays or wedding ceremonies.

Although the choice of flowers or reasons of purchase may be different from people to people, the love and feelings that they carry with the flowers are all the same.
