Historic Mangyongdae

Mangyongdae is the historic place where the great leader Kim Il Sung, eternal President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, was born on April 15, 1912.
On Mangyong Hill, the highest of peaks around Mangyongdae, we can enjoy a kaleidoscopic view.
In particular, the landscape of Mangyongdae where all flowers are in full bloom on mild days of spring is picturesque, indeed.
President Kim Il Sung, born in simple straw-thatched house of this beautiful rural village, left his native place with high aim to liberate the country occupied by the Japanese imperialists at the age of 14 to embark upon the road of revolution.
Historic relics, showing many stories of the great leader’s family members, have been preserved in the original state at his native home at Mangyongdae.
Nowadays Mangyongdae is the holy place of the sun visited by not only Korean people but also the world progressives.
