Disease Prevention and Mask Wearing

Seasonal condition of winter can be a contributing factor in the outbreak of influenza and other virus-related communicable diseases.

According to data, virus mainly spreads by air.

Generally, a microscopic droplet of approximately 5㎛ in diameter can move up to 1.5 metres high and travel tens of metres inside a room.

Virus reportedly lives much longer in winter than in summer.

This indicates that it may be harder to prevent communicable diseases in winter than in summer.

WHO and other specialized health institutions in various countries highlight the risk of influenza and recommend people to wear face masks for their own health from October each year, when the weather starts to get cold.
