WPK’s Founding Anniversary Celebrated with Splendour in DPRK The 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea was celebrated with splendour all across the country. A large stream of people visited the supreme sanctuary of Juche - the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and showed their respect to President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who lie in state. At the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun the visitors paid tribute with humble reverence to the peerless great men who built the WPK into a popular Party that commands absolute support and trust of the people. Officials, working people, service personnel and youth and students visited mosaics depicting the images of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il as well as their statues on Mansu Hill and other places across the country, laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers and paid tribute to them. Many people visited the Party Founding Museum associated with the great history of the foundation of our Party. National flag-raising ceremonies took place in different parts of the country. Performances were given in Pyongyang and other parts of the country to celebrate the October holiday. Public catering facilities across the country were crowded with bright-faced guests. The Central Zoo, the Natural History Museum, the Rungna People’s Recreation Ground and other cultural and recreational facilities reverberated with endless laughter of working people and schoolchildren enjoying the holiday. Night streets of the capital city were adorned with brilliant illumination to the delight of people appreciating the nocturnal view of the October holiday.

For Environmental Protection The DPRK specified environmental protection as a noble patriotic undertaking for the country and the nation, and is directing great efforts to it. It has enacted several environment-related laws like the laws on environmental protection, assessment of environmental impact, national land planning, underground resources, etc. and constantly amends the existing laws to cope with emerging environmental issues. A nationwide environmental management system has been put in place and environmental protection is being pushed ahead with in close connection with the socio-economic development. All factories and enterprises are required to be equipped with a full set of anti-pollution facility ranging from gas purifier and dust arrester to waste water purifier. Modern tree nurseries are built in every city, county and province to industrially provide saplings necessary for afforestation and urban ecological environment is showing a marked upward trend with the undertaking of such projects as roof-greening and vertical-greening regarding rooftops and walls of dwellings and public buildings. Environmental protection has now become an all-people undertaking and newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and other publications are actively engaged in relevant information and publicity activities.

DPRK’s 77th Birthday Celebrated All the people across the DPRK meaningfully celebrated the birthday of their beloved motherland as an auspicious national holiday. Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students visited the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and mosaics depicting their images across the country including Mansu Hill to lay floral baskets, bouquets and flowers and pay tribute to them. Many working people visited and paid tribute to the revolutionary forerunners at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt. Taesong, the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri, the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery, cemeteries and graves of martyrs and the memorial towers for the fallen fighters of the Korean People’s Army across the country. Enhancing the joys of the national day, colorful art performances were given in Pyongyang and other parts of the country, to add to the optimism and pleasure of the working people. The festive mood was uplifted with merry dancing parties of young people and Women’s Union members held in all parts of the country. Public catering establishments across the country including Okryu Restaurant, Phyongnam Noodle House in Pyongyang and Kyongam Restaurant in Sariwon were crowded with visitors. The Central Zoo, the Nature Museum, the Munsu Water Park and other recreation grounds in Pyongyang were also filled with endless laughter of working people and schoolchildren enjoying the holiday.

The Mountainous City of Modern Civilization Under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, Samjiyon City was turned into a standard modern mountainous city and model ideal local city. Comrade Kim Jong Un devoted tireless efforts while giving personal guidance to more than 8, 800 blueprints. In November 2021 when he visited Samjiyon City, he proudly summed up the successful construction of Samjiyon City carried out according to the Party’s plan and intention. And he set forth important tasks and ways for turning Samjiyon City into an even more splendid tourist area in line with its transformed living environment. In July 2024, he gave on-spot guidance at the Samjiyon City construction site again, and set forth important new tasks for further sprucing up the city as required by the developing reality. True to the grand plans of the peerlessly great man, the construction of the Samjiyon tourist area is proceeding apace as it has great significance in giving wide publicity to the country’s natural environment, further improving the people’s cultural and emotional life and securing the driving force of regional development through tourism.

Crowd-pulling House on New Street - Hwasong Taedonggang Beer House The Hwasong Taedonggang Beer House on Rimhung Street, another modern street built in the capital city Pyongyang, is gaining popularity among beer lovers. The beer house is very distinctive in appearance. Columns supporting its entrance roof portray the Taedonggang Beer bottle and a beer jug with the froth alongside. People are attracted not only by peculiar architectural form of the beer house but also the unique taste of the Taedonggang Beer that cools down the heated body in sultry midsummer and refreshes the feelings. Warm Love for Rising Generation Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace, an extracurricular education center for schoolchildren is situated in Kwangbok Street in the capital city Pyongyang. In May 2014, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, on a visit to this palace, set forth the task of renovating it, and took all necessary measures to this end. Later, when he visited the renovated palace, he said that the Party had spared nothing for the children as their laughter of today would lead to cheers of victory. Every day, many schoolchildren visit the palace for extracurricular activities. An art troupe of the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace toured Primorsky Krai of Russia from May 2 to 12. Russian figures lavished praise on the Korean children’s performance, saying as follows: It is superb. It cannot be expressed otherwise. High artistry, wonderful ensemble and perfect and refined movements can be performed only by Korean children. The performance demonstrated how much importance is given to the education in the DPRK. We pay tribute to respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who has trained such excellent children. So rosy is the future of the DPRK where the younger generation is valued and priority is given to education.
