13-storied Octagonal Pagoda at Pohyon Temple
Our country has many cultural sites and relics of which we can boast to the world.
The 13-storied octagonal pagoda at Pohyon Temple on Mt. Myohyang is built in the last period of Koryo Dynasty (918-1392).
The pagoda consists of three-tiered stone, the platform with lotus patterns, 13-storied pagoda body and head.
It is a marvelous structure which shows the advanced masonry of the medieval age of Korea.
As a typical pagoda of Koryo Dynasty, it is well preserved and maintained thanks to the Workers’ Party of Korea policy of national heritage conservation.
