World-famous Pyongyang Raengmyon (Pyongyang cold noodles) is a unique national food favoured by Koreans since olden times.
The Pyongyang Raengmyon Custom includes the knowledge and technique related to making the food and the socio-cultural custom practised in the course of making it.
Koreans liked to make and eat Pyongyang Raengmyon on various occasions from ancient times, and today, this custom is continued without interruption.
They eat Pyongyang Raengmyon on auspicious occasions together with relatives or neighbors, sharing joy and promoting respect, harmony and unity.

The Pyongyang Raengmyon Custom was registered into UNESCO’s Representative List of ICH of Humanity in 2022.
