Preparation for Green Response Gaining Momentum

June 5 is the World Environment Day.
Environmental and nature conservation is an important and responsible undertaking for making the mountains and rivers of the country more beautiful, protecting natural resources, promoting people’s health and providing them with more cultured living conditions.
Now many countries are actively encouraging tree-planting, applying advanced technologies in the treatment of industrial wastewater and sewage and stepping up the efforts to develop solar, wind and other natural energy sources, so as to create cleaner and more civilized living environment.
And a campaign called Green Response is brisk in the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent. The Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK |RCS), on the basis of its study of the campaign in relation to the country’s situation, is pushing ahead with it to make it help the country’s environment conservation.
While conducting brisk activities for afforestation, anti-erosion, river improvement and other ecological environment protection projects, the team for promoting Green Response organized under the Society has worked out a draft plan for Green Response activities for applying advanced science and technology in it. And discussions for implementing the plan are under way.
As a well-regulated nationwide environment management system has set up and successes have been achieved in the country’s efforts for environment conservation like afforestation, river improvement, road management and village facelift, recent meetings have stressed on the need to incorporate the Green Response activities into the DPRK RCS long-term plan up to 2030 and carry it out stage by stage.
