The International Day of Mother Earth
April 22nd is the International Day of Mother Earth.
The protection of the environment of the earth is an important issue that has a direct bearing on the existence of humankind.
The deterioration of the environment of the earth caused by rapid development of industry and climate change is threatening the human existence and the future of the earth.
Therefore, the protection and preservation of the environment of the earth is emerging as the issue of international concern that calls for joint efforts of humankind.
As an auxiliary body to the Government, the Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is engaged in regular activities of different kinds to support the Government efforts to protect the environment.
In order to encourage the active participation of the people, the Red Cross Society is conducting publicity activities with diverse methods to raise the public awareness of the importance of environmental protection and the significance of environment-friendly practices such as reforestation, safe disposal of waste, recycling and the use of renewable energy.
Also many volunteers across the country actively support the Government efforts for environmental protection for tree-planting, river improvement, etc.
