Life-saving First Aid
First aid(FA) is a critical life-saving activity that provides necessary assistance to people with sudden illness or injury before professional medical help arrives.
With more frequent and severe natural disasters occurring such as typhoon, heatwave and drought due to climate change, and all sorts of accidents such as traffic accidents, the number of the injured is on the increase year after year.
It is necessary for all to learn first aid which saves lives in emergencies when people get injured or sick.
The Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea defines FA as one of its traditional activities.
Fully aware of the importance, the RC volunteers take active part in providing first aid this year, too.
In close collaboration with local health workers, RC volunteers, particularly those at FA posts, visit families and workplaces far away from health facilities to disseminate FA information among them. They also provide FA services to local population.
