River Improvement
During the general mobilization period for land administration this spring, a large number of Red Cross staff and volunteers across the country have actively taken part in the river improvement projects to protect their places and communities from flooding.
The staff of the Red Cross branches, together with the officials of disaster risk management bodies of respective areas, identified the risks and discussed the plan and targets for river improvement projects.
Many Red Cross volunteers, being fully aware of the importance of river improvement in the prevention of natural disasters and in the protection of ecological environment, were engaged in several activities to prevent and reduce the disaster risks, such as dredging of rivers, reinforcement of embankment with soil and stones, bridge repairs, etc.
