Preparation for Emergency Response Stepped Up
For timely response to the natural disasters such as flood, drought, typhoon and all sorts of crisis, the Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK RCS) revised its emergency response plan to align with the situation and needs.
The DPRK RCS organized crisis response simulations of the disaster response teams at the national and provincial levels to improve their proficiency in standard operational procedures and response plan in case of emergency.
The DPRK RCS also established multiple emergency communication networks between the headquarters and branches for early warning and early action.
It regularly evaluated the operational capacity of early warning system and standard operational procedures of the branches in the highly disaster-prone areas.
A large number of branch staff and volunteers participated in the on-line technical workshops on health in emergency, epidemic control and emergency WASH response , to share success stories and lessons learnt and acquire new skills.
