Let’s Protect Water Resources

Human life and socio-economic development is unthinkable apart from water.

The decrease of water resources caused by climate change, environmental contamination and rapid population growth requires that all countries pool their efforts together to protect and effectively manage the precious water resources, essential for the existence of humankind.

To this end, the UN has designated March 22nd as the “World Water Day” and many countries arrange various activities on this occasion to increase national and social awareness regarding the protection of water resources.

The Government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea sets the protection of health and welfare of its people as the top priority and is making every effort to provide people with clean and hygienic living conditions and environment by effectively managing water resources.

The Red Cross Society of the DPR Korea, as an auxiliary body to the government, has identified water sanitation and hygiene as one of its core activity areas and is doing various projects.

Particularly, on the occasion of the “World Water Day”, the Red Cross volunteers conduct promotion activities to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting and saving water resources and also actively support the hygiene and anti-epidemic institutions for protection of water resources and disinfection of water supply networks.
