Pleasure to Meet People
A magistrate of Tokyo Prefecture paid a visit to Pyongyang in October 1971.
He was very much impressed to see various places in the DPRK, but he could not understand one thing. It was that President Kim Il Sung was free to go every corner of the country, either to factories or countryside.
He had a chance to ask the President about it.
The President answered that he would go to construction sites, factories and rural villages. He had no gap with the people and it was most valuable pleasant time for him to be among them. The magistrate was moved.
He would tell his aides to this effect: You must not prevent me from meeting the people freely. The people want to meet me, and I too, want to see them to have a talk. I regard it pleasant to see them and they regard it happy to see me. No doubt, you would worry my personal safety, but no use to worry. Our people have a sincere trust to the Workers’ Party of Korea and support it and I rely on them firmly and respect them.
