Lesson from "Car with No Handle"
In a talk to Cambodian Prince Norodom Sihanouk on June 1979 about the importance of maintaining independence in opening up the destiny of a nation President Kim Il Sung told a story about a “car with no handle” in vogue among the East European peoples.
A general secretary of a communist party of an European country presented a car to his counterpart of a country in power, which had no handle, but a hook in front of it.
In answer of the question from the general secretary in power, the presenter said: Never mind. You tie a rope to the hook and link it to the car ahead. And you have nothing to do and sit at ease because I will drive the front car and draw yours.
The President looked at the Prince as if asking him the lesson from the car with no handle.
At this time, the Prince told him that it gave a serious lesson to the statesmen, and he went on: Independence is the handle they have to hold firm in opening up the destiny of a nation.
