The Political Committee (at the time) of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea adopted a decision in September 1973 that President Kim Il Sung take a month holiday because he was working without a day’s rest.
However, he found himself in a cooperative farm for an on-the-spot guidance from the first day of his monthly holiday.
An official begged him to have a rest, but he said he could not just being carefree with so much work to be done. He rather entreatingly asked the official to understand him.
And on the 8th day of his holiday, having come back to the lodging late in the evening after his day-long busy work, he hurried the officials to cease the rest and return to Pyongyang.
He said to them that for him a genuine rest meant to go among the workers and peasants to have a talk with them and solve their problems. And when they feel happy, he feels himself the same way and that is a sweet rest for him.
Therefore, the decision on his rest adopted after much effort could not be executed eventually.
