One day in June, 1999 Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory.
At a work team of the cosmetics shop he held a cosmetic in his hand and asked the officials accompanying him whether they had ever seen cosmetics of “Nowana” and “Kumgangsan” brand marks that have been produced at that time. There was no reply.
He said to himself you had not ever seen them, the people could not see them either. He again asked the officials of the factory about the reason for the production of the cosmetics.
After being told of their answers, a shadow passed over his face.
He said such good cosmetics should not be exported to other countries, but given to our people and our people should use cosmetics not inferior to the cosmetics used in other countries.
He added that he wanted to give any thing he could do to our best people in the world who trusted and followed only the Party in the face of indescribable difficulties, as circumstances permit he would make all the people use cosmetics of high quality so that they became fairy and beauty.
