Let’s raise the awareness of disaster and crisis
Amid the prolonged extreme heat wave in the Northern Hemisphere, the destructive calamity is doubled by the unprecedented torrential rain and flood.There was the heat wave yesterday, and torrential rain and flood today, this is today’s reality.Experts say that the humidity has increased since the temperature has risen high. This is the strong indication that heavy rainfall is expected and the risk of flood should follow.Experts have no doubt that the damage from typhoon and flood worldwide is the inevitable aftermath of climate change, hence we should take urgent measures to be fully prepared to the natural disasters.The Red Cross Society of the DPR Korea (DPRK RCS) is, in concert with the state flood preventing measure and under the collaboration with the experts, taking preemptive measures against flood considering of his own region’s characteristic, experiences and lessons learnt from the past years.With residents together, the red cross volunteers are now seeking for the disaster risk elements and reinforcing the constructions such as river bank conservation, river embankment, and conducting activities to be prepared to landslides.
