Special Effort at Handwashing Activity
The Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK RCS) is highlighting the importance of handwashing to the Red Cross Branches in provinces and counties in consideration of their own specific regional contexts greeting the Global Handwashing Day.As the recent world health crisis has illustrated, handwashing plays a key role in promoting the people’s health from various communicable diseases.In collaboration with the health workers, the DPRK RCS has distributed the facilitation manuals about handwashing and raised public awareness through the national network. Meanwhile, the activities aimed at preventing water-borne diseases were also carried out. Handwashing among the children, pregnant women and the elderly people was given more priority.The DPRK RCS worked in close cooperation with the household doctors to make the community people observe the rules of health and disinfect the public hygiene arrangements including sanitation facilities and prevented any outbreak of communicable diseases.The DPRK RCS will contribute to the promotion of people’s health by keeping the close contact with its Red Cross Branches in the future as well.
