Day of Shining Star Celebrated in DPRK

Every year all the Korean people celebrate the 15th of April as the Sun’s Day (birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung) and the 16th of February as the Day of the Shining Star (the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il), the greatest auspicious holidays of the nation.
On the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il, there took place various congratulatory events in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and in rural areas.
Youth and students held an evening gala at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang to conspicuously decorate the night of the holiday on the 16th of February.
The participants in the evening gala showed merry dances paying the highest tribute to Chairman Kim Jong Il who provided an eternal foundation for the happiness of the people and prosperity of the country while unfolding noble traits of attaching importance to the youth and loving them on this land.
There was a dancing party of the beautifully dressed women in traditional clothing to add the festive mood displaying their pride as the flower of the country, life and family at the Arch of Triumph Plaza.
And the venue of the national art exhibition and photo exhibition were opened and industrial art exhibition was held in every province.
Meanwhile, an art performance was given at the Samjiyon Theatre in Pyongyang on the 16th of February to celebrate the greatest auspicious national Day of the Shining Star.
The performances given by artistes of the Wangjaesan Art Troupe, the State Merited Chorus and the Samjiyon Orchestra vividly represented the ardent yearning for Chairman Kim Jong Il who had lived his noble life of love for the country, nation and people.
