National Symposium on Epidemiology Held

In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK) a national symposium on epidemiology was held at the Sci-Tech Complex through video-conferencing on March 28 and 29 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of Medical Association of Korea to mark the 55th anniversary of publication of President Kim Il Sung’s famous work “On Combating Epidemics More Effectively”.
Present at the symposium were officials, researchers and teachers in the field of anti-epidemic and public health.
In the symposium Choe Kyong Chol, minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of Medical Association of Korea, noted that with the publication of the classic work “On Combating Epidemics More Effectively” on March 26, Juche 57(1968) President Kim Il Sung gave a clear answer to the ideological and practical issues raised in the implementation of prophylactic polices and elucidated the way to the development of the socialist health.
He stressed that an effort to prevent the incidence and propagation of various epidemics must be made and at the same time the scientific and research activities strengthened to develop in our own way diagnostic reagents, efficacious medicines and latest medical instruments in hearty response to the resolutions of the 8th Congress of Workers’ Party of Korea(WPK) and the plenary meetings of the Central Committee of the WPK.
Published in the symposium were valuable studies and reports needed in solving the scientific and technical problems raised in the prevention practice.
The research studies presented by the Medical Academy, Central Epidemics Prevention Control Station, Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences and other units were highly appraised for their high practical significance in preparing the material and technical foundation of the prevention field and switching our prevention firmly to an advanced and popular one.
The studies on the methods and experiences obtained in the prevention and treatment of the various epidemics effectively in recent years attracted the concern of the participants.
In the symposium diplomas were presented and prizes awarded.
